With Pride: LSIC Awarded Three Local Grants

2

A huge THANK YOU to the Rapoport Family Foundation, the Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, and the John Edward Fowler Memorial Foundation for their generous financial support and confidence in our work.

THE RAPOPORT FAMILY FOUNDATION

Funds nonprofit organizations serving the DC community in areas of social services, homeless care, transitional housing, and job outreach. (More)

A $10,000 award will enable our Civil Division to counsel vulnerable tenants facing substandard housing conditions and the imminent risk of eviction.  It will also support our Expungement work with participants in workforce development programs and other clients who are striving to put their past mistakes behind them and rebuild their lives.

THE COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR THE NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION

Community foundations are trusted stewards of local charitable assets. The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region both accepts donations and makes grants. Its wealth of community knowledge enables it to guide strategic philanthropy that responds to community needs. (More)

A $25,000 award provided from the Fund for Children Youth and Families is designated to support LSIC’s Housing Advocacy and Preservation Project, which helps low-income individuals and families maintain housing by providing complimentary legal counsel and presentation for legal matters affecting housing stability (eg., eviction).

JOHN EDWARD FOWLER MEMORIAL FOUNDATION

Empowers disadvantaged people through funding of organizations that address homelessness, hunger, at-risk children and youth, adult literacy, free medical care, seniors aging in place, and job training and placement. (More)

The $10,000 General Operations grant will support the services we provide through our court-based housing office and court-assigned criminal cases, and to expand our work to the public through community outreach and pro bono programs.

This Campaign has ended. No more pledges can be made.
